Julie's Row

Here is Julie's row of baskets and some wonderful hexagon flowers that Virginia made to go with them:

I wanted to do some geometric blocks to go with them. I don't like orange, but I seem to use it a lot. Here's what I came up with:

The photo seems a little washed out, the row is very bright! I'm happy with it and glad to be all caught up!

15 minutes of fame?

OK, so maybe this isn't it. But I think it's the most any non-quilt related media has ever written about me. A reporter from my local paper called to do an interview last week about the quilt I had accepted for AQS-Paducah. Here is what she wrote. I'm cringing at some of the inaccuracies, and at being the focus of anyone's attention, but I guess it's not so bad. There were pictures in the print version of the article, apparently they don't put those online.

Paducah Bound!

Well, at least my quilt is... The quilts travel way more than I do! Yesterday I received the "big envelope" from AQS saying my quilt, Star Chain, had been accepted for the show. Here it is:

It's a miniature, about 16" x 16", and a replica of a queen size quilt I designed for my guild's 2008 summer scrap quilt.

Virginia's Row

Keeping up with the first row was a bit of a challenge, keeping up with the blog even more so... My first row was a couple days late and I'm finally posting the pictures. Here is Virginia's original row:

She requested scrappy rows which was a bit different from what I usually do, but I knew right away I would make some traditional star blocks to go with her log cabins. Here is the result:

The next package arrived with Julie's rows before I even finished this one, so hopefully this month I can catch up!
